My Stitchy Crush

stitchycrush-blogheader

While there are a whole host of other stitchers out there that I have super big crushes on, I thought I would shake things up and share some supplies that I can't live without.

I usually have at least 3-4 different embroidery projects going at the same time and last year I realized that I needed a better way to keep the projects and the threads separate from each other. I was walking through Target and saw these fun letter trays and realized that they would be a great place for me to not only keep a current project, but they are also great for holding in my lap when I'm working at a space that doesn't have a table or other flat surface. I'm pretty sure that you can find trays like these at any sort of office store.

Then came the question of what to hold all my threads in for a project. I found these little plastic boxes at Michael's Arts and Crafts and they are meant to store photos in. They are the perfect size to hold all your threads (even cotton perle balls fit in them), scissors and needles.

When it comes to transferring patterns I've come to rely completely on the carbon papers by Sublime Stitching. They have a white and a black carbon version and both are awesome. You can reuse them multiple times and honestly I've not come across any other carbon transfer paper that works as well as this. It stays on for a long time; as I have used it for all the huge wedding vows embroideries I've done that can take up to 5-6 weeks.

My other go-to pattern transfer crush is Clover's water soluble fine point pen. It's divine. I'm also super obsessed with Pitt pens. You can't use these for pattern transfer, but when it comes to sketching out new designs there isn't any other pen I want to use. And blessed be the child in my house that walks off with my Pitt pens! They know better.

I can't leave out my new pair of Gingher scissors that I got for Christmas. While they aren't shaped like pheasants or peacocks, they are pretty amazing.

Who's your latest stitching crush or what tools can't you live without? And what are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
