Eureka! Pin Back Excess Fabric

Eureka!

This Eureka tip is probably my all-time favorite tiny thing I've picked up over my years of stitching - and I'm pretty sure I copied it from our very own Carina!

Eureka!

When you're working on embroidery in a hoop and the excess fabric is getting annoying, hanging down in your way - just pin in back! Simply fold it up and bring it over to the front, pinning it to a place that won't interfere with your stitching. It's so obvious, I'm sure you must do this already - but I'd never thought of it when I noticed in a photo of Carina's some time ago. Genius! If you find yourself struggling with that excess fabric, you'll be amazed by how much easier this tiny tip makes your stitching progress.

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!

  2. I roll my edges into my snap frames, but generally only after I've accidentally sewn through part of the edge..

  4. Use safety pins instead if you are worried about poking yourself. Also, if you tend to get the fabric dirty, wrap another fabric around it before pinning, to protect it. :)

  5. Brilliant! It's so frustrating when you come to the end of a line of stitching, triumphantly pull the fabric out of the hoop to admire your handiwork, and discover that you have to undo everything. Not that I speak from experience...
